Sunset Game Lodge is perfectly situated for Short Drives or Full Day Drives or Safaris into the Kruger National Park through the Orpen Gate, 38km from the lodge. The drives into the Kruger Park form part of the activities on offer at Sunset Game Lodge. These photos and videos are from our 4-hour drive on the 11th of November 2022. These are a few of the photos/videos that we captured.
We were lucky enough to have seen four of the Big 5 in those 4 hours.
A bit camera shy, but at least managed to get one from the back!
The beautiful Southern Ground-Hornbill is not often spotted and is regarded as a special sighting in the KNP, as these are on the endangered species list.
Staying 4 nights or more means you can take a different direction each day once you have entered Orpen Gate. The Timbavati Route is one of our favourites, but these photos were captured on a 4-Hour Talamati drive. There is also the road directly to Satara and then the Sweni Route. Each has its own magic and will deliver sightings. Some include more River Drives than others, so it is helpful to do a little bit of planning before the drive begins.
Usually, we would encourage our visitors to this part of South Africa to leave for the Kruger very early, but we only left the lodge at 11:00 and the drive was still very rewarding. The photos are not the only animal viewings we encountered, Buffalo, Giraffe and a host of other animals were also spotted on this short drive.
The moral of the story is: Stay Longer at @sunsetgamelodge and see a LOT MORE! Short Drives or even Full day Drives, it is all possible from Sunset Game Lodge.
