On Sunday, 17th August 2025, we had the pleasure of a full-day safari in the Kruger with our wonderful guests Tony, Lisa, George, Vera, and Kalista from Australia. The bush greeted us with open arms and a touch of magic.

The start of our day began with this little elephant—playful, curious, and gently flapping its ears as if to say, “Welcome to the wild.” Not too long into the drive, the skies gifted us a beautiful rainbow and some well-appreciated rain, refreshing the landscape and adding a soft shimmer to the morning light.

Not too long after the shower, we came across this herd of buffalo, their silhouettes bold against the damp earth.

Nearby, a hyena who seems to have found a mud pool lounged with unmistakable satisfaction—nature’s version of a spa day.

There was no shortage of some amazing sightings of the birdlife on offer. From vibrant rollers to regal eagles, the skies and trees were alive with colour and song.

Other amazing sights on offer were a baboon and her baby clinging tightly as they crossed the road, a lone gnu grazing quietly, and a dazzle of zebra, their stripes striking against the green flush of post-rain vegetation.

But the true gems of the day came later—some of the special sights we saw were of the wild dogs, trotting with purpose and energy, and a cheetah, sleek and serene, surveying the plains with quiet intensity.
